SAFE OPERATING PROCEDURES:

As an administrative control, Safe Operating Procedures are usually derived from a risk assessment. Written Safe Operating Procedures are an integral element of an entire occupational health and safety program and are an essential part of a safe system of work.
The SOP will include the following parameters: (It may increase or decrease with respect to equipment or process)
1) The work or process’s objective
2) Any relevant legal information or standards that have been taken into account during the SOP process.
3) Any specialized or uncommon terminology should be defined.
4) Specific information about the task’s potential hazards and associated risks
5) Precautions required to eliminate or adequately reduce the risk prior to starting the task
6) Personal protective equipment to be worn while performing the task
7) The environment in which the task should be performed
8) Clear and simple instructions for performing the task safely
9) Shut-down and emergency protocols
